Reclaimed Wood Floors
Reclaimed wood, often referred to as engineered flooring, is wood that was previously used in barns, siding, floors, and other parts of barns, houses, or other structures. This wood has character and detail not found in new wood. This isn’t wood scrap, but rather wood that was milled from mature trees and salvaged for its strength and beauty.
Reclaimed hardwood flooring has a look that is completely unique. Using reclaimed wood is environmentally friendly, as the trees have already been cut down – no new trees need to be used. Engineered flooring has also been weathered and has a cross-layered structure that prevents expansion in the event of water exposure. Some woods are no longer used for hardwood floors due to scarcity, so this may be the only option for someone looking for a truly unique wood floor.
