1967: From Produce to Panel Town

Ed saved enough money from the produce business to purchase a storefront in Dayton, Ohio. Instead of starting a grocery store, which had been the original plan, he saw an opportunity to stock his store with wood paneling. In 1967, he entered the wood paneling business and founded Panel Town.

Even though he had everything to learn about paneling, trim, and moldings, he set Panel Town apart from the start by providing a golden standard of customer service.

In the 1970s, competition was fierce with the arrival of Mr. Panel, Panel Planet, and other corporate competitors setting up stores nearby. Panel Town outlasted them all by offering the best deals and prices, running creative radio and print ads, and exceeding customer expectations.

Throughout the years, Panel Town adapted with the times to offer hardwood flooring. And in 2006, the business expanded to offer in-demand laminate and vinyl.

The store in Dayton closed, and the main store found a home in Columbus, Ohio where it still is today.

2012 saw the arrival of the online shop, which continues to add products and content online, serving customers in all 50 states and sharing a love of flooring with new people every day.

Everything at The Reclaimed Barn is made from real barn wood that’s been treated, fired in a kiln, and repurposed for interior use. The Barn offers timeless products that enhance your living space in unique ways.
