What is WPC Flooring?
WPC stands for Wood Plastic Composite. It refers to the engineered core used in this vinyl flooring.
The WPC core is made from a blend of wood fiber and plastic polymers, creating a waterproof and slightly cushioned structure. Unlike rigid stone based cores, WPC vinyl flooring has a bit of flexibility, which helps improve comfort underfoot and sound absorbsion while maintaining the durability expected from modern luxury vinyl flooring.
Most WPC vinyl plank flooring installs as a floating floor using a click lock system and includes a protective wear layer designed for residential use.
Why Choose WPC Flooring
Comfortable Underfoot
The cushioned wood plastic composite core provides slight flexibility, making WPC vinyl flooring more forgiving to stand and walk on compared to rigid stone core options.
Waterproof Core
WPC flooring features a waterproof composite core that resists spills and moisture without swelling, making it suitable for kitchens, basements, and living spaces.
Sound Reduction
The thicker WPC core and attached underlayment help reduce sound transfer between rooms, creating quieter residential environments.
Built For Homes
WPC flooring is designed for everyday residential living. It handles foot traffic, pets, and normal household wear while maintaining comfort and performance in kitchens, living rooms, and finished basements.
WPC vs SPC: When to Choose WPC
When comparing WPC vs SPC flooring, the main difference is core composition and overall feel. Both are waterproof luxury vinyl options, but WPC uses a wood plastic composite core that provides more cushioning, while SPC uses a denser stone based core designed for maximum rigidity.
Choose WPC If:
- The room is a living area or bedroom
- You want a quieter floor upstairs
- Standing comfort matters more than extreme dent resistance
- The project is residential and not commercial
